10 Things USC’s JuJu Watkins Can’t Live Without

I feel like sometimes a lot of parents be lyin'.

Like, they'll have their newborn baby, like,

with a little 12 onesie on. Like, come on.

Like, let's be so for real right now.

This baby likes Cocomelon. Like, she does not wanna be here.

But it's so cute. [instrumental music begins]

What's up, GQ? It's JuJu Watkins,

and these are my essentials.

I love all the Travis Scott collabs.

I actually recently got these.

I've always wanted these since they came out.

And now I wear them, like, almost every day.

This color [indistinct] crazy. It goes with everything.

I have, like, the whole collection.

It's like the infinity stones.

Like, these were the last ones I needed.

Now my collection is complete.

I only collect the Lows, though.

I'm not really, like, a high 1 Jordans.

That's not really my swag.

That's even, like, on the court.

I only wear low tops. So it's just a mental thing.

In-game shoes, first they need to look good.

Comfort and, like, stability is, like, the biggest thing.

I like my shoes to feel tight so, like,

I feel like I won't roll an ankle or something.

I'm definitely a sneakerhead.

I have, like, so many pairs of shoes.

I also have the Travis Scott Air Force 1s, the Sail ones.

Love those. It's probably not good for me 'cause I

do spend a good amount on shoes.

The CPFM Dunks, I love those. I've been tryin' to get those

ever since they come out as well, so stay tuned for that.

Gotta have the Nike crew socks. It's just a must.

This is Deuce. He just gives Deuce, honestly.

I just thought it was a good name for him.

I got him, like, a couple months ago.

And he's just been, like, a little light in my life.

He's just so handsome too. So he's just... He's just a great

addition to the Watkins family.

We're still workin' on his training, clearly.

Sit. Sit, boy. He only works for food also.

My first Frenchie. I'm honestly a Frenchie girl now.

Like, my whole Instagram is, like, Frenchie.

He's really affectionate. I love that. I love that in dogs.

Always gives me kisses, even when I'm

mad at him for probably peeing on the floor.

He loves to, like, pee at the door

and so, like, when I get home, just right there. [laughs]

Just right there waiting on me.

He only listens if you have a treat.

He's still a good boy, though, despite everything.

Some of the bracelets, I got last season

from, like, little fans.

I always try to keep these as much as I can.

I even attach these to, like, my backpack.

I just think it's so sweet. Like, people actually

take the time to make things like this.

[Interviewer] Was there somebody you

looked up to like that?

I never really made bracelets.

I was never really, like, on the creative side,

but I definitely looked up to, like, Candace Parker, Lebron.

Those were my GOATs growing up.

Just to see, like, so many parents

want to get their kids into women's basketball.

I just think that's just so great for the sport.

It's just a great feelin' when you have so many young fans,

even newborns at the game. I feel like that's just so cool.

Through anything I do, I like to add, like, a little

philanthropy [indistinct]. I think with Nike,

one of the biggest things is just

giving back to the community, under-resourced kids

who don't have the funds. Definitely try to include

that in everything that I do.

I actually have a non-profit called Good JuJu.

I know it's super cliche. Just trying to give back as much

as I can, super important to me.

Definitely bigger than basketball, so yeah.

These are, like, my top three snacks.

Funny story, my mom says that when she was pregnant

with me, this was all she drank.

So I guess that transferred to me being 19 and still

drinking apple juice every day.

Usually, like, with breakfast, I'll have apple juice.

And then these are just, like, go-to gas station.

I only like the blue ones. So can't say

the same for the other flavors, but these movie theater,

gas station, pre-game, during game.

Nothing really changed. I always try to eat good,

like, before a game. Pre-game, I usually go for, like,

salmon and, like, rice. I don't really eat that bad.

I do need to get better with snacking, clearly, but...

Very random, I know, turkey jerky. I actually love it.

I don't know why I love it so much.

It's just, like, a good late-night snack for me.

Edges is just a big thing for me.

Like I said, I really care about my appearance

and hair is, like, the number one thing for me,

as you can see with the bun. It's always done.

The saying, you look good, you play good.

I notice, like, when my bun gets knocked out, I literally

like, cannot... [laughs] I probably shouldn't say

that because people are probably gonna try to knock

out my bun. I can still lock in with a undone bun,

but I'm just saying, you know,

I prefer it not to get knocked out in a game.

It's the best feelin' when you have a good hair day,

[indistinct] is good and then you have a game.

There's, like, a 90% chance I'm gonna do good, so.

My hair has to be the same as much as possible.

I know sometimes it's kinda unrealistic 'cause we

play so many games in a year it's like okay,

you're not gonna get it perfect every time.

But that's just the standard I hold myself to.

Every game counts and if the bun's good, the game's good.

These are my favorite pair of jeans.

As a tall girl, it's super hard to find jeans

that fit perfect, and these are ones that do.

So these are definitely my favorite.

Wear them, like, every day. These are Dark Park.

I was in Nieman Marcus and I got 'em.

They're not loose, kind of perfect.

I like to wear baggy jeans, but these are just like...

You know, I could wear these with business casual.

I could wear these with a crew neck. Just good jeans.

My cousin, Tracy, actually, he's super stylish.

So I usually see what he's doing a lot.

But, you know, I like to add my own twist to things.

My style changes, like, every month.

I'm usually always wearing these on campus.

Nobody talks to me. No, I'm joking.

Like, I always wanted to get asked,

What are you listening to? when I'm walking,

if you guys seen those videos.

But I feel like it would be super random 'cause

you just never know what's playing in here.

Music is just such a big part of my life.

I love music. I just went to a Claro concert,

so that's all I've been playing.

If I'm sad, I'm like in my feelin's,

I'll play some sad music. I don't know. It ranges.

Best pre-game song? This season,

I'll probably listen to Fiend by Travis Scott.

I feel like that'll probably get me hype.

The most essential thing here today, a lint roller.

As you can see, I'm, like, really low on paper,

so I'm gonna need to get another one.

I have this in my school backpack.

I have this in my travel backpack.

I have, like, five lint rollers at home.

I hate lint. I hate when my dog's hair gets on my shirt.

It just drive me crazy. As a kid, like, I always ironed

my clothes before school every night.

Like, lint rolled. I always cared about my appearance,

so I think that's just something that'll stay with me.

And a lint roller is gonna help me do that.

Before I go to sleep, when I wake up, Aquaphor.

It's kinda recent. I feel like people just started using

it a couple years ago. I never really heard

about it till then. Aquaphor's great.

This is the NYX brow tint pen.

I usually do like natural makeup, just something quick

before I go to practice, so just shade in the eyebrows

a little bit. From my experience, it stays on.

I usually just feel in the ends, so not too much with it.

It stays on. This is perfume.

It's called The Noir 29 by Le Labo.

I have, like, 20 perfumes at home

so I like to switch 'em out. I'm more of, like, a vanilla

warmer scent. I don't know what I'm smelling right now,

but it smells really good. Yeah, you smell so good.

It's like... I don't even know.

There's a hotel here, The Addition, and they do, like,

their scents based off of this.

I don't know. It's like a collab,

but I love the smell of that hotel

and it inspired me to get this one

and it smells so good.
